Korean Language – Pieces of Cultural Intelligence

On number 19 out of 20 most spoken foreign languages according to Gaston Dorren’s book “Babel” we have

One Korean quote said: “Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.” And I think that’s beautiful. So, following that advice, why don’t you take a look at the following piece of cultural intelligence content I have crayoned here?

What words were exported from Korean to other nations?

2 familiar Korean words are KIMCHI (pickled vegetables) and the sport TAEKWONDO. Several well-known brand names are of Korean origin, including Samsung (which means 3 “stars” ), Hyundai (which means “modern”) and Daewoo (or TAEU which is translated as “great Woo”, Woo being the founder).

Vietnamese Language – Fun Facts

Last year, I purchased this book.

Babel by polyglot Gaston Dorren

I remember starting reading it and the first chapter was about author’s struggles and beautiful learning path of Vietnamese. I find reading about different languages around the world a captivating activity and that’s because I get to experience the cultural intelligence but also to expose my mind to a new way of understanding people in general. It’s making me become more in love with people in the sense that I discover myself to become so much more tolerant about myself and less judgemental about people’s actions or behaviours or way of speech, because everything makes sense now.

Have you heard about CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE ? Have a go by reading this article here.

People are a portrayal of their language and culture and the more you read about languages and in depth descriptions regarding behind the scenes of a foreign language creation, such as the ones highlighted by Gaston Dorren in his book “Babel”, you get to achieve a higher level of open mindness and flexibility and adaptability.

I got inspired by the book and in the light of sharing with you my discoveries and little gems of cultural intelligence, I have created a document about some key notions around Vietnam or Vietnamese language.

Since everyone has an opinion on it, I will share mine too

Whether it was created in a lab or not, if it got out of control or if it was naturally derived, this corona virus (Covid-19) seems to have taken control over our lives, in the sense that fear, panic and shock are daily emotions nowadays encountered not only in people that seriously could have a reason to feel like that, but it’s a common feeling encountered in young people and young adults or in healthy human beings. Yes, we should be concerned, but not to this extent of “we are all gonna die”.

If we think about the numerology of 2020, which is made of double 2s, and if we remember that 2 is the number that expresses emotions and feelings, we can conclude that this year is extremely emotional. There’s 2 sides to this coin. We can express positive feelings or we can choose negative emotions. And no matter which one you choose, you are right. When there is double 2s, we augment and increase the intensity of that symbol and of that energy, in this case the energy of the numerology-related number 2, which is emotions. We can choose to focus on positives and not on negatives, and that will expand even further, bringing more good energy in our lives and potentially saving us from negative experiences.

But if we solely focus on the negatives and the fearful images, words and feelings we are shown in the media, then, we can only expect to increase that and make a hill out of a mole. We have got to keep our rational minds here in calm, and focus on living our lives without having the panic around covid-19 take over our lives.

Fear, panic and anxiety are negative emotions and they can attract negative experiences in our bodies. Therefore, healing our emotions is critical to overcome our diseases or to make them be felt to a lesser extent. Flowers from Dr.Bach Flower Therapy have the potential to heal our emotional challenges. Plants are living beings. Become aware of this and be mindful of your surroundings. The more we engage to our natural surroundings, the easier will become to feel the subtle healing powers of these flowers. Because plants are in constant communication with us. Dr. Edward Bach categorised his remedies into The 12 Healers, the 7 Helpers and the Second 19 Helpers.

Dr. Bach felt The 12 Healers Flower Remedies were for our primary soul types, the sort of person we are. He equated these with the Soul lessons we have come to learn such as inner peace (Agrimony), strength and ability to say NO (Centaury) and wisdom (Cerato). We can see these types more easily in children – as adults we have accumulated other layers or imbalances – but when we are under pressure our soul type may betray itself. We sure feel this pressure these days with the new corona virus.

So, the 12 Healers are Agrimony, Centaury, Cerato, Chicory (to dissolve self-pity and “me,me,me” into generosity of giving), Clematis (to bring dreamers back to Earth), Gentian (to resolve discouragement and despondency into the positive quality of faith) Impatiens (to release the quick tense mind into gentleness), Mimulus (transforming fear of known things into bravery), Rock Rose (to transform terror and dread into courage), Scleranthus (to bring balance and determination from indecision), Vervain (to release over-enthusiasm into quiet and tolerance), Water-Violet (to change a proud aloof or quietly grieving person into the joy of service and taking part in life). Please note this is only a brief description and not the full understanding of the remedy. I will come back with a later post on the full “prescription” around these lovely flower remedies.

The 7 Helpers of the Dr. Bach Flower remedies are to support the Healer Remedies for long term conditions and are as follows: Gorse (for hopelessness), Heather (for fussy introspection), Rock Water (for rigidity of attitude), Wild Oat (for lack of direction in life), Olive (for weariness and exhaustion), Oak (for the strong person who never gives up), Vine (for a domineering forceful attitude, to bring the quality of calm wise leadership).

The other 19 flower remedies are called the second 19 and relate to emotional states that result from life’s knocks and challenges and are as follows: Holly (for jealousy, envy, revenge and suspicion and greed – in full negative, bringing the quality of love), Pine (which brings self-esteem relieving a feeling of guilt and self-blame), Aspen (for fear of unknown things), Beech (for intolerance), Cherry Plum (for fear of the mind giving way), Chestnut Bud (for failure to learn from mistakes), Crab Apple (this is also called the cleansing remedy, also known for self-hatred), Elm (if you feel overwhelmed by responsibility), Heather (for self-centredness and self concern), Honeysuckle (for living in the past), Hornbeam (for tiredness at the thought of doing something), Larch (for lack of confidence), Mustard (for deep gloom for no reason), Red Chestnut (for over-concern for the welfare of loved ones), Star of Bethlehem (for shock), Sweet Chestnut (for extreme mental anguish, when everything has been tried and there is no light left), Walnut (for protection from change and unwanted influences), White Chestnut (for unwanted thoughts and mental arguments), Wild Rose (drifting, resignation, apathy) and Willow (for self-pity and resentment).

Bach Flower remedies are an alternative or complementary treatment that is used for emotional problems and pain. They’re made out of watered-down extracts from the flowers of wild plants. Dr. Edward Bach was a medical doctor and homeopath and created these remedies in early 1900s.

Dr. Edward Bach used to say “Every single person has a life to live, a work to do, a glorious personality, a wonderful individuality”.

So, in my opinion, I think we need to change our emotional state to be able to conquer any potential diseases. Yes, it can be very hard to be in a positive mindset when you are really struggling when really ill, and that’s why it’s important to stay up as positive , as chilled, as calm and as mindful as possible to avoid our energetic body get a glitch and we potentially get sick.

Please maintain your mental health to a higher level of positive mindset, thinking and attitude and peaceful state of mind and tranquillity and avoid stress.

If anxiety won’t let you focus on a powerful bold mental health, why not try to read out more about these flower remedies?

For anxiety, we can try the Bach Flower Remedy called Aspen, and this will bring back into our lives more reassurance that things will be ok. If you feel there is too many responsibilities you need to take care of during these times with Corona Virus (Covid 19), you can try Elm remedy to give you support in the face of all things you need to take care of. Gentian remedy can help if you feel discouraged in case something goes wrong such as you get a flu or cold and you start thinking you will get the novel virus, if you are already in a state of depression and you have given up as you see no light at the end of the tunnel, please consider Gorse remedy, as it will emphasise on hope and a hopeful and optimistic view of life’s circumstances and challenges.

If you find yourself stuck in the past, thinking of things that occurred many weeks ago and you believe this is going to affect you still or you will get the virus because so many people got it, then you might consider Honeysuckle remedy because it will assist you in being present and thinking more of living in the present and stop focusing on the past (or past examples of bad or negative experiences related or not with Covid 19). Hornbeam remedy can help you get motivated to start working on whatever you are working but you feel you lack the motivation to start on it because you feel it’s not worthy anymore given the current world situation and you’re stressed about it. I also think Mimulus remedy will give you back the courage to fight back this fear you have regarding Coronavirus. Oak remedy will give you the strength you need if you feel you struggle on with your mental health regardless of how much you try to keep yourself positive and rational and calm about the possibility of getting Coronavirus.

If you have Coronavirus or you had it and recovered but gave it to someone and you blame yourself for this and you feel guilty, Pine remedy can help you release that internal struggle and blame. Red Chestnut remedy can help you with peace of mind if you feel overly concerned for a dear person or a family member living in a Red Zone that they might catch the new virus. If you are truly feeling overwhelmed by fear and terror regarding the Coronavirus and the end of the world because of this Covid19 , then you might consider Rock Rose for fearlessness.

If someone close to you or a family member or friend or someone you know well has been tested positive for Covid 19 and you are feeling shocked or in grief, you can consider Star of Bethlehem remedy. You can also get this yourself if you are shocked if you discover you have the Coronavirus, obviously I wish you not to, but let’s think of all potential outcomes so we feel prepared. If we feel prepared, we are better equipped to deal with any shock or after effects of a situation or life challenge and can manage healing in an effective way as we follow a plan. The main reason people panic is because of the uncertainty of a situation. But, if we choose to think rationally and with calm the potential outcomes , we can get a better emotional state of mind and this will help us tremendously because if we believe we are energy, positive energy within us attracts more positive energy and experiences. This way we keep ourselves far away from all negativity and potential outcomes because of that. But, if you still feel anguished and you feel there is no optimism within you, then you might consider Sweet Chestnut remedy. Walnut remedy will protect us all from the fear we experience regarding this new change that we need to adapt to, this new world that is to appear because of the Coronavirus outbreaks.

If you have repetitive thoughts and you feel you cannot switch off and you find it hard to sleep given what’s happening in the world , then White Chestnut remedy can help with your tranquillity and sleep. If you feel resentful on people who have given you the flu or Coronavirus or if someone is sick because of someone you know has passed on the Covid 19 onto them, I would consider Willow remedy for you to give you a more positive outlook on life and release that resentment you feel. This willow remedy can also help if you feel sorry for yourself and think always that you are going to get unwell and that this is so unfair.

Recognising exactly how you feel is the key to choosing your essences. If you have selected more than 7 essences, cut down your choice by concentrating on how you feel now. Then match the exact mood you’re in with the appropriate essence. Most people find it easy to select their own essences. All you need to do is find the essences that reflect your situation, mood or personality the best. You can mix up to 7 remedies at a time. All of the states described are everyday emotions that we all feel from time to time. Even the most negative state has a corresponding positive quality that shows us what we can be when we are fully ourselves. Sometimes we find it difficult to be honest with ourselves, few of us want to be seen as jealous or intolerant, but once we have admitted how we feel, we are halfway towards balancing that emotion. So, if you have trouble working out your feelings, why not ask someone who knows you to help.

I would like to help you out too, and to the best of my capabilities I will reply to your emails at bliss.naive@gmail.com regarding confusion related to what remedies would suit you best based on your current state of mind or your current emotions you feel. Remember, this is not treating a disease, it’s complementary to any illness and it helps by balancing your emotions, which in turn will help the physical body by releasing the tension in the mind and de-stressing, because now we know that research has concluded stress can impact on our physical health in a negative way. So we must heal our negative emotions to help heal our bodies. Our immune system is prone to diseases if stress is too high.

Bach Flower Remedies are essences made from plants. An essence is the preserved vibrational substance – or vital life force – of the plant or flower that is used for healing and to prompt deeper levels of health and well-being. The essence can include a part of the plant, such as stems, leaves, roots, buds, or it can be a distillation of the whole plant. The flower or plant essences act upon our non-physical body rather than the physical body, influencing our feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and unresolved emotional traumas. Users of vibrational essences may find that, as their thoughts and emotions change, their symptoms shift as well.

Flower essences blends

When you or someone else is in distress or is experiencing an emotional spiral, whether it is because of the loss of a loved one, the experience of a life threatening accident, or the worry of facing a challenging situation (potentially getting infected with Covid19 or Corona virus) , the following flower essence blends will help to soothe and balance your emotions.

Physical and emotional shock – Bach rescue Remedy (the most known Bach Flower Remedy) – you can purchase this already made up, or you can blend your won remedy using Star of Bethlehem – for releasing the trauma, Rock Rose – against terror and panic, Cherry Plum – for fear of losing control and Clematis as it helps to make you stay conscious.

Sleeping problems – Rock Rose (it helps with nightmares) , White Chestnut (releases those worrying thoughts) and Agrimony (helps with restlessness from repressed worries)

Worrying about others – Red Chestnut (against irrational anxieties), chicory (releasing the concern for others, the neediness) and Holly (against jealousy and suspicion).

This is what Dr. Bach teaches us:

“It is our fears, our cares, our anxieties and such like that open path to the invasion of illness. Thus by treating our fears, our cares, our worries and so on, we not only free ourselves from our illness, but the Herbs given unto us by the Grace of the Creator of all, in addition take away our fears and worries, and leave us happier and better in ourselves.

Thus, behind all disease lie our fears, our anxieties, our greed, our likes and dislikes. Let us seek these out and heal them, and with the healing of them will go the disease from which we suffer.

The mind being the most delicate and sensitive part of the body, shows the onset and the course of the disease much more than the body, so that the outlook of mind is chosen as the guide as to which remedy or plant or flower remedies are necessary.”

Did you ever consider that at the heart of all diseases and distresses lay an imbalance in our emotional state and that true health is emotional harmony?

What Goddess are YOU?

I am reading a book called “21st Century Goddess, the modern girl’s guide to the universe” and I found this insightful quiz that I would like to share with you. This quiz relates to the type of an archetype goddess that you embody at this present time, however, after reading about each goddess, you might realise that you are a specific goddess now, but you actually aspire to become a different type. It is very fun as well, so dive deep into this curious exercise of discovering a hidden essence you hold inside and reveal yourself as true goddess:

“The Personal Goddess Quiz is designed to find out which of the 6 main Goddesses you are relating to today. The goddess will change, as you change, so it is possible to use this quiz regularly to see which one has you in her sights. And you could use this quiz to ascertain which Goddess you like to be or needs your attention. This will also portray obviously how the specific goddess outcome influences you now.

If you got a combination of say mostly Bs and Fs, read the profile for each Goddess and see which one most fits where you are today or best suits where you feel you’re going. The great thing about this quiz is that you can re-do it at anytime and as often as you like. It may be that you’re changing Goddesses daily if you’re in a period of massive change in your life. You could also be phasing from one Goddess to another, which possibly means you are in or are about to enter a transitory phase in your life. In addition, you may find that at different times you have a different Goddess in residence. You should also check to see if you are experiencing the shadow aspect of a particular Goddess (be honest with yourself now).

APHRODITE – The Aphrodite woman holds sex as a sacred activity. She delights in the gratification of the senses, adornments, and things of beauty of any kind. Touch, smell and taste are important to her and she operates largely through these for she is a tactile Goddess. she has an inborn aesthetic sense, loving the arts, poetry and design. In work and career she favours the media, fashion, interior design, or beauty industries. KEYWORDS – passionate, sensual, a lover of beauty and luxury, creative. SHADOW – possessive, lazy, vain, self-absorbed, a slave to fashion.

ARTEMIS – Artemis is in her element when out of the cities. She enjoys the rugged lifestyle. She plays by her rules and makes her own way in the world without too much male guidance. That’s not to say she doesn’t want companionship, it just means it’s the man who will have to keep up with this woman. She will remain youthful-looking well into her 40s. In work and career she is attracted to women’s shelters or women’s groups, anything that is community based, or a pioneering field, or a solitary profession. KEYWORDS – freedom, athlete, physical prowess, natural, practical, independent and individualistic. SHADOW – obsessive, aggressive, feelings of frustration, perfectionist tendencies

ATHENA – Athena is out there, the centre of activity, helping and organizing. She is intelligent and self-confident, willing to put herself on the line for her beliefs and opinions. Athena will keep her head in a conflict, and maintains a clear vision in emotional situations. If you want something done, Athena makes it happen. Men admire her for her practical way of dealing with pressure, but at the same time they can be intimidated by her, because she can outsmart them with her sharp intellect and her persuasive arguments. in work and career she will be attracted to the corporate world, boardrooms, committees and academic circles, or anything where she can make herself known and gain recognition for her talents. KEYWORDS – professional, worldly, transforming, reformer, social organizer, courageous. SHADOW – over-achiever, controller, manipulator and sceptical.

DEMETER – Demeter is the mother of mothers, she has patience and likes to be surrounded by people who need her help or motherly advice. She loves children and wants a family – the whole box and dice. Unflappable, a whirlwind can be happening ans she’s dealing with all manner of tasks, calmly and surely. If you have a work or family dinner to organize, just let the Demeter woman take over – she will remember to invite everyone, ensuring that no one is left out. She is also very good with hands and engages in anything that’s crafty oriented. In work and career she is often found in hospitals, schools, church groups or fundraising. KEYWORDS – motherly, home-maker, peacemaker, counsellor, nurturing, instinctive. SHADOW – overbearing, fussy, stubborn and excessively dating.

HERA – Hera is conscious of her position in society. She upholds what she considers important to make a pleasant environment, although she can be a little conservative and always knows what to say to whom. she is socially adept and always in sync with the correct etiquette for every occasion. Her dignity is the bedrock of her values. Hera is formidable, and will often be at the centre of disputes, debating and clashing with people. If you are aware, you will appreciate her gifts, respect her and not treat on her toes! KEYWORDS – commanding, confident, authoritative, dignified, self-assured. SHADOW – social climber, arrogant, aloof, superior.

PERSEPHONE – Persephone is the person who knows how others feel. She senses what you need to feel better, and she’s the one that you tell your deepest, darkest secrets to, even if you’ve just met her. She often needs time alone, to deal with her unseen world. Highly connected to the spiritual world, she can appear to be misunderstood and will have an aura around her, protecting her from the outside world. In work and career she is to be found as a counsellor, writer, working with the dying, healer, health practitioner. KEYWORDS – mystic, sensitive, secretive, spiritual, nonconforming, reclusive. SHADOW – overly sensitive, out of touch, whimsical, unrealistic.

You can be all 6 Goddesses, but you can be only one at a time. There is no such thing as the “wrong” Goddess for you. It’s more a question of efficacy and timing. You are not going to relate to all that is said about these Goddesses. There are going to be times when one will appeal or be more relevant to you than others. As with anything, it is about balance: it may seem at times one Goddess is in overdrive in your life. You’ll feel this in a physical and emotional sense because the influence can be very obvious and usually feels too pervasive or dominating. This is what happens when you are overdoing the Goddess. This means the particular shadow side or negative aspects of the Goddess in operation are showing up. It is wise to be alert and to try to avoid this occurring, or at least to minimize the effects. And to do this, you need to watch the signs. For example, if you were “overdoing” the Goddess Artemis, you may be acting too aggressively (as opposed to assertively), feel insecure (as opposed to feeling safe and confident in your abilities) and prefer to be alone to the point of isolation (as opposed to feeling happily independent). These are some of the shadow aspects of Artemis in the context of what the “healthy” or positive aspects of Artemis are. so to compensate for the “extreme” Artemis energy, you could concentrate on healing and overcoming your fears, forgiving others, and practising letting of of the situation. Compassion and love – for both yourself and those around you – would be a great starting point for a longer term remedy in this case.

This is why the Goddesses archetypes are so helpful. They can be indicators of where you may gain awareness of your shadow and access to the solutions that are blocking you from whatever is holding you back from reaching your true potential. The shadow elements are considered by the ego to be undesirable or simply not useful, and are therefore relegated to the dark. And these same shadow aspects and also be positive in keeping the ego in check, but we must actively and consciously choose to deal with them – we need to truly “engage” and get to the heart of it.

Often a woman becomes stronger and wiser by understanding them and working with and through them, rather than pushing them away in denial or projecting their effects on to other people. For the same reasons you may therefore also resist the Goddess you most need, the one who can show you how to heal. You are the one living your life, and if you’re ready to face your own shadow and deal with its effects, you will start to really live.”

As C.G. Jung points out: “it is often tragic to see how blatantly a person bungles their own life and the lives of others, yet remains totally incapable of seeing how much the whole tragedy originates in himself or herself.”

Cultural values of cultural clusters

A tiny bit of knowledge regarding cultural intelligence CQ was detailed in my previous post and you can have read here – What I learned this week.

Understanding, using and increasing our cultural intelligence improves the way we relate to and network with diverse others. As we see a lot of migration, a lot of change regarding where people move to study or work or live or retire, we learn a lot about the specific country and customs there, but not all the times, we look deep into the cultural values of that place.

I believe what you will read next will help you not only know more about yourself, but also help you in being more empathetic with different people and cultures and with respecting one’s point of view and perspective. While I was reading through the book of Gaston Dorren (who is a polyglot), who wrote “Babel, Around the world in 20 languages”, I was able to get more insight into the different cultures of the world, how those people of other countries than me think and how their culture reflects in the language itself and it really opened my eyes to how unique and beautiful people are but also how little we actually know about the world. Cultural Intelligence highlights the importance of understanding different perspectives and then appropriately and effectively adapt our behaviour to obtain success. As an expat myself it is very hard to accept specific norms of the country I am in, because of personal and cultural value I grew with. But what you are about to read below will give a context or a form for better classifying your values, others’s values and then correctly identify in a new person or group of people or even in an organization these values. And why is this crucial? Because we, as human beings enjoy to feel at home wherever we are, we need comfort and familiarity. When we know our own values, we can better cope ourselves with others and we can expand on our self-knowledge even further, we can understand ourselves better and then it will become so much easier to cooperate, collaborate and work on our desired achievements.

There are 10 cultural clusters – Nordic Europe, Anglo, Germanic Europe, Eastern Europe, Latin Europe, Latin America, Confucian Asia, Southern Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Arab.

Over the decades a number of scholars and researchers identified cultural value dimensions and general geographical clusters for these cultural value dimensions. As a disclaimer there is a wide range of variation in cultural values that individuals in the same cultural cluster may actually express. This means an individual’s personal orientation may not reflect the generalised tendency of a specific geographical cultural cluster. At the same time, research does reveal that a large number of people within these geographic clusters do share similar values. So it can be a starting point to begin understanding the similarities and differences between your preferred values and the cultural values of others.

Cultural clusters provide possible insight into where we may likely find the presence of a cultural value dimension. We have the opportunity to use cultural intelligence to determine if diversity or differences in cultural values might explain a challenge, a misunderstanding, confusion or miscommunication. Using CQ provides an opportunity to recognize difference and diversify in order to adapt our behavior which facilitates effective and appropriate interaction across diversities.

Cultural intelligence or CQ is defined as the capability to be effective across different cultural context, including national, ethnic, generational, organizational and other contexts. The culturally intelligent have a good grasp of overarching patterns that exist across various cultures around the world. It’s not that the culturally intelligent are walking encyclopedias who can spout off random facts about any culture on the planet. That’s impossible. But they have a macro understanding of cultural similarities and differences, something we identify as CQ knowledge – one of the four capabilities of cultural intelligence. CQ knowledge is the degree to which you understand how culture influences how people think and behave; it’s also your level of familiarity with how cultures are similar and different.

One way to improve your CQ knowledge is to learn the key characteristics of 10 global cultural clusters, which are large cultural groupings that share some core patterns of thinking and behaving. The countries and groupings of people within each cluster typically share a common history and they often share similar geography, language, religion or cultural values. The 10 clusters are simply a place to begin comparing one predominant worldview with another. As you develop a deeper understanding of the clusters’ similarities and differences, you’ll find yourself more adept at handling all kinds of intercultural situations. Why talk about clusters, and overall patterns and norms for people from various cultures? Because there’s value in something that cross-cultural psychologists Joyce Osland and Allan Bird describe as “sophisticated stereotypes” – broad comparative differences based on empirical intercultural research. Sophisticated stereotypes such as those that stem from understanding the 10 cultural clusters, are most helpful when they are:

-used to compare various cultures rather than to understand the behavior of a singular culture

-consciously held

-descriptive not evaluative

-used as a best first-guess prior to having direct information about specific people

-modified based upon further observation and experience

The cultural value dimensions

Individualism – Collectivism

An individualist is motivated by personal rewards and benefits. Individualist persons set personal goals and objectives based on self. Individualistic workers are very comfortable working with autonomy and not part of the team.

The collectivist is motivated by group goals, Long term relationships are very important. Collectivistic persons easily sacrifice individual benefit or praise to recognize and honor the team’s success.

The generalized geographic clusters of individualism may be found in Anglo countries, Germanic Europe and Nordic Europe. Geographic clusters for collectivism are often located in Arab countries, Latin America, Confucian Asia, Southern Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Low and high-power distance – is a lot about authority and hierarchy.

A person with low power distance thinks the less formal the better. They prefer to forego formalities and are willing to respectfully question or challenge authority. Titles and positions of authority and leadership are not important to a low power distance person.

A high-power distance individual feels obligated to follow strictly the chain of command and is far less likely to question authority or leadership. Respecting and honoring the position of leadership is highly important in a high-power distance society.

An example is in Germanic Europe, a low power distance culture cluster, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her husband live in a very modest flat in Berlin. On the other hand, Southern Asia is a high power distance culture cluster. In Southern Asia using formal titles are very important and not to be ignored. High power distance mandates that people of higher status receive special seating at dinning or in a business meeting.

Low versus high uncertainty avoidance

The cultural value dimension of low or high uncertainty avoidance resides in the question of should we try to control the future or just let the future happen? How shall we deal with the future when the future can never be known for sure?

Low uncertainty avoidance persons act first and then get the information. They are very comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty. Cultural value clusters of low uncertainty avoidance work hard to minimize rules and laws that infringe on people’s diverse perspectives.

High uncertainty avoidance often requires rigid codes of behavior and beliefs. There may easily be intolerance of unorthodox behaviours and ideas. Persons with high uncertainty avoidance appreciate explicit instructions. They often rely on procedures and policies to reduce the change of things getting out of control.

Anglo countries, Eastern Europe and Nordic Europe have a preference for low uncertainty avoidance. Latin Europe and Latin America emphasize planning and predictability or high uncertainty avoidance.

Cooperative and competitive dimensions

A person with a cooperative cultural value emphasizes collaboration, nurturing and family.

A person who has a competitive value dimension emphasises competition, assertiveness and achievement.

The cooperative versus competition cultural value dimension considers how you wish to achieve results and accomplish goals. A cooperative person believes the best way to accomplish an objective or reach an outcome is by getting people to work together. However, a competitive person believes people are best motivated to reach a goal when competition is involved in the process.

If we consider geographic cultural dimensions, Nordic Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa prefer cooperation. Germanic Europe and Anglo countries emphasize a competitive cultural dimension. In the middle between cooperative and competitive, we find Arab countries, Confucian Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Latin Europe and Southern Asia.

Short versus long term

This cultural dimension is based on how a culture views time and the importance of the past, present and future. Short term is the cultural dimension which emphasizes immediate outcomes and success now. Long term planning and success later guide the long-term cultural dimension.

Confucian Asia is in the long-term geographic cluster. It is interesting that China is said to be planning for the next 500 years while other nations have a 5-year plan. Anglo-countries, Arab nations, Eastern Europe, Nordic Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa are in the short-term geographic cluster. Eastern Europe, Latin America and Latin Europe use both a short-term and a long-term dimension.

When we use a long-term dimension, we focus on the future. We value persistence. We easily delay social success. Personal and emotional gratification is delayed.

A short-term orientation cares more about immediate gratification. The past and present is more important than the future. A short-term orientation values the current social hierarchy. Meeting current social obligations is emphasized by a person with a short-term perspective.

Low and high context

In a low context cultural dimension encounter, the emphasis is on explicit and direct communication. In a high context experience, the communication is indirect and the tone of voice and context of the communication is most important.

The individual with a low context orientation values direct communication. He or she choose their words very carefully. Logic is important.

A low context person believes in clearly saying what they mean and totally meaning what is said.

A high context and indirect person will pay attention to what is not said as much as what is said. A high context person will notice the context such as where people are seated and how individuals are dressed. A preference for high context means you need to constantly read between the lines. High context persons speak indirectly to peers and tend to avoid conflict that is head on.

Geographic clusters that prefer low context and direct communication are Anglo countries, Germanic Europe and Nordic Europe. Arab countries, Confucian Asia, Southern Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa emphasize a high context with an indirect communication cultural dimension.

Being versus doing

Being and doing is the extent to which you derive meaning from activity and being productive.

A high doing person wants to be productive on a day off or holiday. A doing culture emphasizes being busy and meeting goals. A being culture stresses the quality of life and work-life balance.

In a doing culture getting a job done takes precedence over personal relationships. You may miss a family member’s birthday celebration because you have work to do. You earn status through the work you do. Status is not based on your age, seniority or birthright. Deadlines and schedules are emphasized in a doing culture. Work-related emails are often answered 24h a days and 7 days a week if the person emphasizes doing over being.

In a being culture, status is automatic and difficult to lose. Status is often based on your age, birth and seniority. Relationships take precedence over tasks or getting a job done. Much time is spent getting to know someone before agreeing to do business with them. Greeting and farewell rituals are considered important. A work-related email is probably not going to be answered by a being orientated person if it is received during vacation.

Geographic clusters of doing cultural dimension are found in Anglo countries and Germanic Europe.

Being geographic clusters are located in Arab countries, Latin America, Nordic Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Universalism and particularism

The cultural dimension of universalism versus particularism is the same as rules versus relationships. Universalism is about the rules and standards. Particularism is about the unique specifics and relationships.

In a culture that prefers universalism, the rules and standards apply to everyone the same. In a culture that emphasizes particularism, there are unique standards and exceptions. Applications of the rules depend on the unique exceptions and the relationships of the persons involved.

A person with a universal perspective applies all procedures the same universally to ensure equity and consistency. A particular oriented person encourages flexibility by adapting to particular situations and making exceptions to the rule.

Rules and standards that apply equally to everyone are typical of Anglo countries, Germanic Europe and Nordic Europe. An emphasis on the specifics allowing room for unique adjustments to rules based on relationships is common in Arab countries, Confucian Asia, Southern Asia and Sub-Saharan Asia.

Non-expressive versus expressive

The communication cultural value that prefers to emphasize non-emotional communication and to hide feelings is the neutral or non-expressive cultural dimension. The affective or expressive cultural dimension prefers expressive communication and sharing feelings.

The geographic cultural value clusters for the neutral or non-expressive cultural value dimension are Confucian Asia, Eastern Europe, Germanic Europe and Nordic Europe. Anglo countries and Southern Asia emphasize both non-expressive and expressive cultural values. Arab countries, Latin America, Latin Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa prefer affective, expressive communications and sharing feelings.

Monochronic and polychronic dimensions

A monochronic persons sees time as a commodity. It is quantifiable and there is limited supply of it. You can waste time.

The polychronic individual considers time to be limitless and unmeasurable. Time is a servant and a tool we use.

Monochronic and linear cultural dimensions emphasize doing one thing at a time, always being on time, events are scheduled to start on time, and work time and personal time are separated. Anglo countries, Germanic Europe and Nordic Europe emphasize the monochronic and linear cultural values.

Confucian Asia, Eastern Europe and Southern Asia emphasize both a monochronic linear and a polychronic non-linear as cultural values.

Polychronic and non-linear cultural values emphasize multi-tasking, find interruptions very acceptable, and easily combine work with personal life. Arab countries, Latin America, Latin Europe and Sub-Saharan prefer the polychronic non-linear cultural value dimension.

Individuals have personal preferences or individual value orientations. Sometimes individual orientations reflect one’s nationality or ethnicity or diversity but not always. Cultural value orientations can be grouped into general geographical clusters. Knowledge of these cultural value dimensions and 10 of the largest cultural groupings can sometimes give us insight into potential cross-cultural misunderstandings and challenges.

The 10 largest cultural groupings in the world are:

ANGLO – Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and etc

ARAB – Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and etc.

Confucian Asia – China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korean, Taiwan and etc

Eastern Europe – Albania, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Mongolia, Poland, Russia and etc

Germanic Europe – Austria, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, etc

Latin America – Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and etc

Latin Europe – France, French-speaking Canada, Italy, Portugal, Spain and etc

Nordic Europe – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and etc

Sub-Saharan Africa – Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and etc

Southern-Asia – India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and etc

These are simply places where you are likely to find a significant presence of the cultural values and are not to be taken as stereotype, they are created and researched to help us all better understand each other as we live in this globalised world, where many different people from a variety of cultures come together in the big cities.

Have you been able to identify which of the 2 options from the 10 cultural value dimensions you personally and culturally are? Tell me in the comments!

What I have learned this week

I will market this as the curated source of latest fresh knowledge, motivation and inspiration and the delightful recycled source of creative content out there that I consumed for your enjoyment and usefulness.

Starting off with KNOWLEDGE TO BOOST YOUR BRAIN POWER: check this out – a new notion – cultural intelligence.

Cultural intelligence or CQ is defined as the capability to be effective across different cultural contexts – including national, ethnic, generational, organizational and others. The culturally intelligent have a good grasp of overarching patterns that exist across various cultures around the world. It’s not that the culturally intelligent are walking encyclopedias who can spout off random facts about any culture on the planet. That’s impossible. But they have a micro understanding of cultural similarities and differences, something which is identified as CQ Knowledge – one of the four capabilities of cultural intelligence. CQ Knowledge is the degree to which you understand how culture influences how people think and behave, it’s also your level of familiarity with how cultures are similar and different. While this kind of understanding alone doesn’t make you culturally intelligent, it is a vital part of becoming effective across different cultural contexts. I am still learning about this concept and expanding my vision on the topic also because working in a fraud detection department requires me to have this knowledge in prediction and understanding the potential threat. Why is this important to be know? The ability to understand different perspectives and then appropriately and effectively adapt our behaviour is now required for success. CQ is unique in that it predicts our capabilities to work with diversity and differences. Understanding, using and increasing our cultural intelligence improves the way we relate to and network with diverse others. There are 4 specific capabilities comprising CQ. The first is CQ drive or motivation, second CQ knowledge or cognition, next is CQ strategy or metacognition, and the last is CQ action or behaviour. Cultural intelligence can be developed and improved. In the next weeks I will be sharing more on this topic, it is a course I am taking on FutureLearn (something similar to Coursera) and I think it is an important subject given that CQ provides an opportunity to recognise or determine if diversity or differences in cultural values might explain a challenge, misunderstanding, confusion or miscommunication and these are needed to be tackled to effectively facilitate human interaction across diversities.

Linkedin Courses taken (2) – Leading like a futurist – I would not say that you necessarily need to be a leader or manager to profit from the concepts and ideas of this course, it is needed for all of us to reinvent our lives and understand the world we live in, from a different perspective. First the course explored what is a futurist. A futurist is a person that can see, shape and share the future. A futurist creates and communicates future opportunities. A futurist is not afraid to be a visionary. The skills needed by a futurist are that he/she is keen and curious observers, they seek diverse perspectives, they represent the finders of clarity in the complex, they are comfortable with ambiguity and they are compelling communicators. And all these skills are skills that the world we currently live in NEEDS MORE OF, and will be in much more need of because of the emerging trends and technologies. By learning more about what a futurist is and moreover about a futurist leader, you expose yourself to more opportunities, either because you can create them or you see them and can ride them. There were lots of amazing ideas in the course, and one of them was the concept of a future shaper. A future shaper has a mindset regarding the way we see or could see the future and a future shaper is able to notice more of what’s around in the world, is able to use everything at hand (knowledge, trend, etc) and is capable of letting go of being right and letting go of being the smartest in the room. These practices create a mindset of anticipation, evaluation of possible futures and analysis of their viability and sustainability, constant observation and scanning of the external environment. Mindset is at the heart. Mindset of individuals multiply to create a mindset of a community, and that community can inspire and connect with other communities, thus making possible the future one person thinks of or “dreams” of, to become if not a reality, then at least to bring more awareness of its potentiality. A futurist is able to communicate the future in a compelling, emotional way to motivate people into taking action with the vision stated. That’s why it’s a leader. A futurist leader or a future shaper is seeking to make us mindful of our capability to see, shape and share the future that we want to be part of. Once you gain that mindset, you become yourself a futurist or future shaper. Really great course, highly recommend it and to give you a glimpse of what the future holds for us in the next decade, I have selected some future trends, basically copy pasting what they wrote, because it is very WOW (that I discovered online on WGSN, which is a leading trend forecaster for insights and inspiration around the globe) for all of us to be waiting for:

“1.BORO – made, do and mend. – In an effort to be conscious consumers, we are shopping less and buying “better”. But what does this mean for the things we already own? This Japanese method “BORO” means born-out-of-necessity patchworking and will become the norm in the next decade. We will see a rise of making do and mending – it will be an honour to give attention to those items in need of repair. Well-loved but worn pieces will become a blank canvas for creativity, self-expression and playful mending techniques, with these new details as the main features of garments. On a side note, this does remind me of another interesting Japanese technique named “kintsukuroi” that means to repair with gold, which is the art of repairing pottery with gold or silver lacquer and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken. And with these notions, there goes a little bit of CQ knowledge, Japanese are very careful and conscious and considerate about life and everything in life, it looks so.

2.NANOSWIMMERS – “Beauty bots” moving through your bloodstream. Taking “beauty from within” to the next level, tiny robots will be used to deliver ingredients, nutrients or medicines from inside the body. While the technology, which as been developed by the medical industry to avoid invasive procedures, is still in its infancy, the applications for beauty are promising. By the end of the decade, injectable “beauty bots” could well be on offer along with other non-invasive cosmetic treatments.

3. FROZEN FOOD – convenience food, but made wellness. Frozen food will experience a renaissance as consumers turn to it as a convenient way of eating that also reduces waste. Wellness – focused consumers have adopted frozen fruit and vegetables in smoothies as a convenient way of introducing micronutrients into their diets. They are now open to trying new, healthy frozen meals and ingredients. Frozen food start ups are providing plant-based or gourmet meals and ingredients to update convenience food. People will also start challenging consumerism and they will focus more on self-sufficiency as they explore how to survive during times of extreme disruption in a decade of environmental and societal turmoil.

4.INTIMACY SCHOOLS – How to be human 101 (actually in my country, Romania, there is one educational leader offering these type of classes related to relationships already) – The intimacy recession means we’re increasingly more connected to our phones than to each other. The 2020s will witness an active backlash to the loneliness epidemic being faced in many developed societies, driven by our smartphone addictions. Much like the rise of mindfulness as a trend, we will go to class to learn how to reconnect with other people, discover how to be vulnerable and build deeper bonds (romantic or platonic) with each other. School is now in session and it;s teaching you how to be human again.”

I have some honourable mentions which seem very far-fetched, but briefly as taken from their instagram account (WGSN)

“5.DIGITAL FRAGRANCES – Machines will learn how to smell – Downloading sounds was so 2010s – by 2030, it’ll be all about downloading smells. Thanks to advanced algorithm technologies, we can smell online.

6.MADE IN NATURE – trees grown directly into furniture. Packaging grown from mushroom. Forget “made in”, by 2025, products made “by” nature will be the new luxury.

7.PSYCHODERMATOLOGY – leveraging the gut-brain-skin connection. Stressed out? Your skin is feeling it too. Modern dermatology will step in to ease skin conditions related to modern day stresses, blurring the lines between our mental and skin health. Welcome to the age of psychodermatology, where it is about the emotional as much as the physical.

8.POWERING DOWN – Rest, recover and recalibrate. Guilty of spending too much time online? A new wave of technology is coming to help us turn off and recharge. Radiaton-blocking materials will help protect us from digital emissions, giving us time to recalibrate and reboot.

9.NIKSEN – doing nothing on purpose, but without purpose. Permission to do nothing: granted. In a world where burnout is so common it has become a classified medical condition, this wellness movement acknowledges that slowing down is essential. Block out your calendars to do nothing and feel good about it.”

Now, NIKSEN really ties beautifully to the other short course I took on Linkedin this week named “How to slow down and be more productive“. It was an eye opening packed with knowledge course that I related so much to and found profoundly life changing for me at least. Even though the concept of slow and the SLOW movement is something I was aware of for years now, I realised I was not practising it. Currently, you may feel as I feel too, that we are living in a state of impatience. I will re-write this. We are living in a state of IMPATIENCE. Not emergency, but impatience to do this and that, to be as fast as possible to go through workload, to schedule meeting after meeting, to be in a constant state of “working” and of ticking boxes when we have done certain tasks, forgetting about taking a moment, not a break, but a moment to give our brain breathing time to get prepared for the next task, meeting, deadline or activity. When we jump mindless to activity from another activity, without allowing ourselves time to digest what just happened we experience what the speaker of the course named to be “the missing minute”. The missing minute is required for us to recover the space between the things we do.

The course is opening our eyes and minds to re-program our brains to do things more patiently – don’t work too quickly, take the extra time – add a touch of more patience to it and take the time to cool down. THE MORE IMPORTANT THE WORK IS, THE MORE COOL DOWN TIME WE NEED TO HAVE. Take a minute and reclaim the missing minute by making a careful choice without feeling pressured by others to make a decision, to finish a specific task, to do an activity, to do your job. The course is focusing on raising awareness around separating what is happening from what is required for our success. Slowing down is about finding that reasonable expectation that others have of you to finish the job and then stick to it. This means you can work comfortably in your own pace and you can do the job between the requests and expectations decided together with the other person you are working with. For this to actually work, you also need to show others that they may be rushing mindlessly too, without knowing, yet.

To cultivate awareness of the moments when you are rushed, you can ask your superior or leader or yourself “How long can you comfortably wait until I respond? When is the latest this can be done? Do you need the whole project or a part of it by that date?” This gives the other person thinking time to help them pause as well and become more present and more capable of making decisions about deadlines. Careful questions can lead to constructive conversations.

Reclaim your missing minute and start by taking 1 minute now without doing anything. No scrolling, no browsing, no reading, no replying, no copy pasting. Just put the timer on your phone for 1 minute and stand still. I have done this and that 60 seconds seemed like an eternity. Amazing insight from that alone only! And, in this way you can understand why the NIKSEN prediction will occur. There’s a need and a market.

Quote of the week – Outgrow the person you were yesterday.

Fun thing of the week – I discovered tiktok (well, just downloaded the app to see what’s all about and why GaryV says it’s the next big thing- and IT’S FUN) and on the platform I discovered this new word that millennials use which is “boomer” – which is actually the short for “baby boomer” by which this new generation refers us for, because “we do not understand them and criticise them way too much”(especially regarding the use of their mobiles). And the meme is “OK boomer”.

So, “boomer” what will you be taking away with you from this blog post? What have you learned from what I have learned?

The power of your first name

Discover more about yourself through the numerology of your name.

Find out what message your first name contains. The full first name given at birth gives the active number. Calculation method: all letters are encrypted, and the result is reduced to a single digit number. Exceptions are the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 (in this precise article, the number 33 is excluded from interpretation, but you can add the 2 digits and use the meanings of the 6 active number, if it happens for you to be a 33, which is very RARE) , which can be reduced to a single digit (1+1=2, 2+2=4, 3+3=6) but they are also interpreted as 2 digit numbers.

So, each letter has a corresponding number as above. What is the significance of this active number of your first name? Your first name answers the following questions:

What are your temperamental predispositions? How do you usually react? How do you get started? Are you slow or fast? How do you start an activity and how do you continue it? Do you finish what you started? How do you usually behave? How do you perceive the self- report? How do you see yourself? How do you express yourself? How do you state your personality? How do you use your will? What are you trying to gain from life? How do you go about achieving your goals? What is your attitude toward life in general? What lifestyle do you prefer?

Let’s take the name Georgyana as an example: G E O R G Y A N A = 7 + 5 + 6 + 9 + 7 + 7 + 1 + 5 + 1 = 3 . Active number is 3.

So let’s see now what your first name says about you:

Active number 1

Your first name is the bearer of a strong character. You want to show your value to others and you are straight forward about it. You do not hinder in detail, you prefer to go directly to the point. You have precise goals and you do not move away from them. You have the chance to be a great opportunist. You are brave, you go ahead and you are not always prudent. Although you can display yourself as a sociable person, able to integrate into a relationship system, you are more of an individualist. You feel great in the middle of the others, but you also need solitude. You work very well on your own and you do not accept the help of others. You attract the eyes on you and you can emanate sensuality. In relationships, you feel that you are made to win! You want the first place, and if you don’t always get it, you unleash yourself and your power. You are temperamental, you can get angry pretty quickly. You are full of energy and you cannot stay in one place. You are nervous, you like to flame yourself up and you can get into arguments pretty fast. You risk becoming arrogant when you prove yourself to others as big and strong. You see life as a competition or an adventure. Envy and jealousy are the most dangerous emotions that threaten you. You not give yourself back from conflicts and if necessary, you do sustain your point of view with lots of passion. You have strength, and others are aware of this and they know it is not easy to put up with you. You are the type of person who does not hesitate, when appropriate, to try to force your points of view through coercive or even abusive measures. You overflow with self-confidence. Authoritarian spirit, you do not let yourself be influenced. You have for sure leadership qualities, but this can also be one of your biggest flaw, depending on how you use it. ambition can take you far, provided you accept the lesson of patience. The decisions you make can bring you success in business. Your power can inspire those around you.

Active number 2

Your first name transmits in the first place sensibility. Therefore, you may feel vulnerable, so, if someone is trying to attack you, you need to learn to get out of the defensive and defend yourself. You are emotional and easily influenced. sometimes you have no problem in letting someone else do what you can very well do yourself. You need the others like you need air to breathe. You are oriented towards relationships with people, that’s why you can make a great career in a field that involves working with the public or with people, because you cannot stand seeing others unhappy (and the least you like to see that to yourself) so, you do everything you can to support and sustain other people around you, especially the ones that need help. You try very hard to make them feel good also.

You like to say jokes, even jokes on them or you enjoy teasing people. To boost your mood, you may very well start criticising other people. You may sometimes have conscious or morality problems or issues. Sociability is your key strength. You like living in harmony with others and you like finding your equilibrium in relationships. You feel this need to associate yourself or collaborate no matter if it’s the professional or personal life we are speaking about. You know very well how to leave a lasting great first impression and you are liked everywhere. You are a great diplomatic personality and you don’t mind letting others to take on the initiative or to take the lead. You are an excellent executive. You do not look at life like a competition, but as a cooperation. Collaboration for you was written in the genetic code. Even though you apparently look cold, your feelings are very intense. Your compassion and help are qualities but can also be seen as flaws when they are taken to extremes, when you ignore your own self (you need to remind yourself not to auto-destruct through burn out by serving others because if you harm yourself, you will hurt the others that depend on you, as they won’t be able to benefit your help). You need to learn that exhaustion is not your good friend. You need to learn to go to actions faster and to take risks. You can be indulgent with others and sometimes your generosity can create problems. You do not really know when to stop with spending money, and you have a predisposition to excess of any kind, even though you show yourself as calculated and very controlled. If you do manage to discipline yourself, you can be a great money and assets administrator. Your affection is your most developed quality of your personality. you also need to learn to integrate skills and qualities such as courage, initiative and combativeness. You are passive and this won’t take you anywhere. You work at your best when you are associated with someone such as business relationships, marriage. If you are unable to take decisions and stick to them, then you need to use all your intelligence to find the right person to shake you up a little bit and awaken your pragmatic spirit.

Active number 3

Your first name is gifting you with artistic talents. If you don’t get to practice these qualities in a job related with audio-visual field, arts or the stage itself, you will for sure, make a stand each time on first impression. No matter how much you try (and you really don’t) you cannot pass by unseen. If other people are not taking you into account or remarking you, not to worry, you will do it yourself. You like to glow, shine, to be admired and praised. You have all the right to feel like that and to want that because your personality displays strength and boldness. But even so, you may be quite emotional and shy at times. The big problem occurs when you have to put yourself into action. Many times, you need to have someone around you to push you towards your dreams or to motivate you with nice positive words. You react extremely well at positive stimuli that’s why positive empowerment and praise is sufficient to motivate you to maintain yourself at your best. If you are discouraged, you risk losing your self confidence. You enjoy being seen and to portray yourself as the best, that’s why you need to guard yourself from the arrogance temptation.

You are a person that gives in easily to excess in any area. Sometimes you have no limits. Sometimes you engage yourself in activities that you cannot fulfil and you will find yourself breaking some of the promises you have made. Your lack of moderation is visible even at verbal level. Sometimes you speak more than you should. You sometimes say too much, in too much details, sometimes you say things just to make the story better. You can be a native storyteller and you can hold conversations on many themes and express lots of ideas. You can also lie with a smile and so, public relationships can bring you a lot of success, so as networking. You adapt easily to any situation and you can take and make rapid decisions. You have a powerful pragmatic sense that can be extremely helpful for you in business. You sometimes bluff, you love adventure and hardcore sensations and you take risks. You are very ambitions, courageous and combative. This tendency to exaggerate can be your main flaw. But below it, there’s a snob attitude that needs to be controlled because others may dislike you if you don’t. From one point onwards your credibility diminishes and you, yourself tend to get discredited and you get used to it. Sometimes you leave the impression that you overflow in confidende, and that’s something too much of you. Your creativity is your biggest asset. You can handle any situation and lots of innovative solutions come to your mind. You prefer people who share your taste and lifestyle. And for you, everything has to be luxurious. Any project or party has to have proportions. Your motto is that if you want a lot, something you will eventually gain. But if, on the contrary you do not want much, you will gain very little. But above all, luck and good fortune are always on your side. If you are generous, you hit the jackpot. You know that saying, when you give, God gives even more? Well that’s your brief description. Being a bit of a dreamer, an artist, it’s good to pick a partner that’s more pragmatic who knows how to turn your head to the ground and open your eyes when you go too much dreaming or day dreaming and to bring you back on your path. You are sociable, communicative and friendly and you enjoy being surrounded by people. You are not much of a friend of loneliness. Your sensuality can reach passionate behavior easily. You know how to enjoy life. You need to fight against laziness, vanity and lack of moderation and you need to understand that no one can know it all or do them all and no one can wver be always right.

Active number 4

Your first name says that you are an excellent organiser, determined to put things on wheels. You don’t necessarily follow a leadership position, but your thinking and behaviour is well shown within the group. If you are not number 1 in a structure, the position of vice or deputy satisfies you. You are efficient and know how to do it in such a way that it works. And it will go well.

Before you take on anything, you make a plan and you draw concrete goals. You want to know in detail in which boat you are sailing. You do not like to have surprises along the way. The rigour, the method and the practical sense characterise you fully. You can work until you are exhausted. You are able to make every effort to finish what you started. You don’t leave anything to chance. You are extremely meticulous and if you exaggerate, you can be considered a detail oriented person, a perfectionist. You pay attention to every detail. For you, any activity you engage in is a puzzle in which you place in a whole each piece.
You are so conscientious that others may feel uncomfortable around you. If you criticise them too much (as your habit may be) and become a jerk, then it’s no wonder. You love order and discipline above all other qualities. This can propel you into the hierarchy, because the superiors will not remain indifferent to your work results. If things do not go the way you want, those around you may have a surprise: in spite of your calm nature, you may show your teeth and have uncontrolled exits through which you want to show that you demand respect of them.Prudence is a reliable ally for you. By ferocious perfectionism, you risk becoming a real maniac. It is impossible not to have a small fixation: either the cleaning, the diet or the body maintenance etc. You work hard in the interest of the family and you want to be respected through the intense efforts you make. You are aware that nothing comes too easily, but for you the satisfaction is directly proportional to the energy invested. That is why you greatly appreciate people who have succeeded in asserting themselves through hard work and intelligence. You cannot stand injustice and detest people who have had an ascension based on favouritism.
Your work power is what drives you in life. However, to fight, you need a serious motivation. You have to have a solid argument that will mobilise you. You have only one thing in mind when you do something: do your homework! It may be a duty to family, friends or work duties. In a couple’s life, your basic trait is fidelity. Steadiness causes you to overcome situations that others would not have resisted. You like to create habits that you stick to. You do everything with patience, meticulousness and pragmatism. You hold your imagination well and pay no attention to the concrete plan. Therefore, you can become the main provider of material stability in the family.

Active number 5

You like change, and the others have nothing to do and must accept this side of you. After all, right, no one asked you at birth if you want to hold this first name.

You are in a continuous process of transformation. Of all the vibrations of names, it seems that you look at life as the best portrayal of what evolution means. If for others the life changes occur more so undergo, they do not surface, well for you everything about change is shown, in the light. The changes not only occur in your own consciousness, but also they have a social, a public dimension, your life changes are visible. How could others not notice them? You change your sector of activity, your job, your place of living, you specialise, and then you think that studies in another field would have been more useful to you, you want to walk around and see foreign countries, and if you like what you discover, you might move there, of course, and it is not known for how long you have these intentions.
For you curiosity means you are still moving. You are always active and open to new experiences. Paradoxically, besides the moments of agitation, you have periods of calm, peace, in which you gather and keep your temper very well. Of rare fairness, you do not support injustice and keep your sense of strong ethics, even when you are under pressure. You don’t know what compromise means
Like people with active vibration 3, you have a taste for performing arts. If you do not flirt with the stage, you can even put yourself in the spotlight and … make a show. It is wonderful for you to make a joke, to tell jokes and to please with humour those around you.
You know how to enjoy of what you have, and yet you always want something else. You take on many things at once and it doesn’t matter to you if you take them all to the finish line. It is important to taste a little of each new thing you encounter along the way. You like everything which is new, the adventure is your eye, and travel is the best solution for you to recharge your energy. For you, the more exciting experiences, the better.

You need a lot of independence and freedom of movement. It is also important to have a broader network of relationships. If you are constrained or feel that you can no longer be locked up in a certain place or in a job that does not please you and you do not take attitude, then you may have nervous breakdowns or depressive states. Your luck is that you can go back to 180 degrees without blinking, because you show flexibility and adapt easily anywhere.
You’re unpredictable. From timidity and internalisation you can quickly move to an extroverted disposition. Instability and lack of continuity can be major flaws for you. You are a primarily rational person, which is why you should not give in to the momentum. In addition, intuition helps you a lot, which you should rely on, especially when you come in contact with others. Even if you don’t look, you’re kind of playful, and if someone discovers you or has enough patience to do so, they will realise how fun you can be. And this … it’s good, right?

Active number 6

The first name you carry urges you to seek harmony and balance within the family. You work from scratch in order to ensure the well-being of your loved ones. You are responsible and you give to your family all the devotion you are capable of. Caring for your neighbour (not to people in general, but to your spouse, children, parents, grandparents, etc.) is the engine that gives you the power to overcome anything.
From here, of course, a number of qualities result: firstly the generosity, the relative of altruism, then the adaptability to any situation and the ability to find ingenious solutions. Although you are sensitive to the beautiful and you are interested in the looks, your intelligence is practical, otherwise you could not solve everything you have in your plan. Stability and consistency are also two attributes that characterise you, only that, if you take them to the extreme, the positive connotation disappears. Even if you are injured, you prefer to suffer in silence and move on. You are the kind of person who stands in a relationship for the sake of continuity and, let’s face it, you;re equally afraid of change.
You have to dedicate yourself to feeling fulfilled. If there is no one in your life to pay attention to, then you blush like a flower. And the point is that you are not a flower that opens when it is watered to the root. On the contrary, you bloom if you sprinkle others, if they are good to them. Thus, a social dimension of your personality intervenes. You have to feel pampered and appreciated by others, for what you are or for what you do.

Obviously, if you let yourself be overwhelmed by selfishness, by your own importance, then the desire to please the others, to be adored and praised, can go off the ramp. The life lesson for you is to open yourself honestly to others, to help them, to put themselves in their service in a sincere and selfless way. Let your appreciation flow from your freely undertaken efforts! You don’t have to do something for another to get honours. On the contrary, honours must come from doing what you do for others. If you have learned this, then you are on the right track.
You always want to present yourself at the highest level, and your home can gain the centre value of the universe. The centre of your operations seems to be home. There you have something to boast about, there you invest time and you receive guests, who will spoil your senses: either the sight (they have to see, valuables, a model cleanliness) or the taste (embellished tables, because they might be a cook of sorts), either the fine and soft materials in curtains, carpets etc. or the ambience (atmosphere with musical background). If you go too far, you might find yourself becoming a maniac of some sort.
You are made for couple life and especially for family life. The perspective of domestic tranquillity, the feeling that you have your place next to a person, can make you choose marriage without spending too much time thinking. Even if you are not involved in a crazy love story, driven by the prospect of domestic pleasures, you are throwing yourself into a marriage that seems to make sense for your life. If you do not succeed in this plan, you risk becoming depressed or closing in on yourself and severing ties with the outside world.

You are a very sensitive person, although you may seem indifferent and distant. If it took you a long time to repress your affection, then you really risk becoming opaque to the feelings of others. This is not fundamentally bad either, because you could successfully work in a job that requires cold blood when dealing with other people.
Nothing else matters in life to you other than being happy and content with what you have. Obviously, this does not mean that you have to please yourself in a certain state. If you are too happy with yourself, then you will be less willing to make changes in your life. Or, precisely, transformation is the key to evolution. Beware of stagnation!

Active number 7

If you are often told that you are in the clouds or dropped from another planet, then someone has very well understood the hidden message of your first name. You are constantly seeking to unravel meanings and to penetrate mysteries. Therefore, studying and researching, reading and documenting, takes up most of your time. Sometimes you are so absorbed in thoughts that you completely disconnect from the outside. Thus you get to leave that impression of floating between two worlds. In time, you have a great chance of developing spiritual or religious concerns. The mysteries and hidden truths can become a great attraction for you.
Your name is the bearer of rare empathy. You understand very well what the people next to you feel and think, you get easy on their skin. Being so open to psychic experiences, you manage to establish relationships on a very subtle level. This advantage allows you to be a good confidant and adviser, being able to excel in the trades that involve advising and guiding other people.
There is, of course, the reverse of this typology. If you take too much refuge in your own universe and raise too many barriers between yourself and society, then you are about to plunge into loneliness, self-reliance and melancholy. You can become an introvert interested only in his interests. A kind of desert genius. On the other hand, sadness and, sometimes, depression, periodically put on any vibration 7 bearer inscribed in the first name.
Even in a couple’s life, you keep a dose of independence. You are with your partner, but to a point. After all, everyone has the right to independence, you think. So, in some respects, each with his own. You are extremely intelligent and aware that there are so many interesting areas that, if the one near you is not interested, his problem! No one can influence you to establish your values and passions.

If you know how to project your qualities outside, then your spirit of observation and patience can become your greatest allies. You are a person capable of accumulating much wisdom and acting calmly. Moreover, you are a perfectionist at the peak. But you have an acute lack of practical sense, which is why you should print a concrete dimension of your existence. You have an overflowing imagination and an ability to make connections between concepts, which leave others with a mouth watering. Take advantage of this advantage and turn it into reality!
You are gifted with an artistic thread and you are blessed with a creativity out of the ordinary. So, if you are a poet and dream of a new imaginary order, spread the words on paper! If you can think of word games, express yourself and make others share in your exuberance! Your language is unique, therefore extremely tasty. You’re the kind of person that says sometimes motivational and inspirational things and can very easily motivate and inspire others..
Despite your inclination towards abstract study and idealism, if you set a goal and believe in it, then no one can turn you back. You mobilise exemplary when you want something and you are able to make every effort. You can work until you are exhausted, especially if you are left alone. Therefore, it is possible to seek solitude and intimacy to complete what you started or to dedicate yourself to your concerns.
It is important for you not to worry more than it is necessary. Stay away from small manias and do not approach extreme positions. Fanaticism is one of the aspects worth considering about you. You have beliefs that nobody shakes. You can ignite yourself so strongly that you can become a follower of an idea or a group. It won’t hurt, in your case, to show more flexibility and less subjectivity. Also, if you open yourself up to others and spread wisdom and mystery around, you manage to rise to your highest level.

Active number 8

Your first name requires respect. You are a presence that is mandatory obvious. Of course, made of major qualities or of defects of which the world speaks. Expect to be gossiped, because it is impossible for you to go unnoticed. Even if you are retired, over time, you get used to your social image.
You can be a role model through tenacity and success or, on the contrary, you may encounter opposition. Loved by some and challenged by others, there is this duality that tends towards extremes. Either of the two directions would be valid, no one can doubt your strength of character. To you, the line between power and stubbornness, between fixation and prejudice is quite fragile. When you embrace a certain belief, you want to impose it on others as well. If you do not succeed with good words, constraints, threats and abuses are forms of authority that you can use. And these are the traits that discredit you the most. Once your status is confirmed, the preservation instinct intervenes. So, shortly after entering a role, there is a fear that you will lose what you have gained. The feeling that you lose in the eyes of others affects your self-esteem and can give you anxiety. You are the kind of person who strives to maintain their role. Or maybe the chair.
Your personality intrigues and it is right that, in case of need, you can also become intriguing to reach where you are aiming to. You have a mixture of hardness and gentleness, irony and affection that the man does not know where to take you. Often you go beyond the power of understanding of others.

The firmness of convictions, however, transfers you a great capacity to make an effort. You can work very hard, until you are exhausted, especially if you have a motivation or a specific purpose. And to you, the ideal that you want to convey to your children is: “You have to become someone!” Or “You have to get far in life!” There is this competitive side to you that puts you in relationships with others. You, of course, have to be on top. This idea of ”not being better than another” can even become an obsession. Therefore, you probably compare yourself quite a lot with others. You risk seeing too much of your qualities and the defects of others. Therefore, objectivity, detachment, impartiality are lessons for you to learn. You have to see beyond your interest, so you can be rightfully accused of selfishness.
Ambition is probably your highest quality. And it just takes you forward to that public image you want to build. It is very important for you to occupy a privileged place, to be perceived as “someone”. The prospect of leading, of being a leader, is a great temptation for you. However, for you, reputation is more important than function. If one emerges from the other, the better.
Success and appreciation of others are the most important motivational factors for you. If you are the centre of attention, you have the feeling of full mental comfort. You are very similar to those whose first name has vibration 1. Only you do not want to shine just because you have a pronounced ego, but because of this position you are able to enjoy recognition from other people. This social need gives value to your personal aspirations.

Impulsive and put on great deeds, you do not accept failure and you know how to learn from any defeat. You are extremely pragmatic and you like to order. Needless to add, you do not like to obey. Therefore, you must make maximum use of your intelligence when choosing your partner, which is preferable to be more malleable. But life has great patience with you, because, in time, you are prone to lessons from which to learn that if you do not know how to give in from time to time, you risk losing everything, and especially the loved ones near you. You are among those who are not born wise, but become wise after certain situations.
You are aware that nothing comes for granted. Being refractory to change, you hardly accept the universal law of acceptance, which says that if you resist the resistance of a thing, that thing will make you suffer. As you are an authoritative individual, accustomed to giving order, life also clutches you with the door and makes you learn with experience.
But you are ready for anything. You have the power to fight to the end and prove to the whole world why you are capable. You know very well that you are made to succeed.

Active number 9

A life in search of happiness. This is the message encrypted in your first name. And for you, to be happy, you just have to see the others around you happy.
You often leave the impression that you were born to please others. You are unselfish to self-forgetfulness. You put others on the foreground and you’re ready to jump to the slightest cry of help. It is not the case to consider yourself a martyr and to expect rewards. If you dedicate yourself to others, you must do so out of spiritual conviction and unconditional love.
You are a great opponent of conflicts and tense situations. Psychologically, the explanation is simple: you are an extremely sensitive person, an emotional being that can expand to shyness. Not because you are afraid to accept the confrontation, but because you do not want to hurt yourself and prefer to wear gloves. By the way, your emotions can be lost in public, if you are in front of a large audience. The ramp lights are best suited to you, especially if you are fighting for a cause or defending a humanitarian ideal. You can be the best fighter for the rights of the many and the best defender of social causes.

Often you choose a path and get involved in activities that benefit as many people as possible. The love you are able to bestow is more impersonal. You do not provide a service for the sake of someone else, but you want the welfare and well-being of all. And for that, you go straight to the facts and commit yourself totally. The question you ask yourself frequently is “If not me, then who?” It does not bother you to take the initiative, to mobilise others and to take on tasks that do not directly concern you. But you are so devoted to others that volunteering acts very well. You are the best and most loyal friend. You do not expect everything to come from the other. You are the first to come to anyone’s’ aid. You work so hard, you plan and organise everything with great care and you are convinced that, in time, the fruits of your labour will be revealed. In fact, your ascension may be slow, but it is a safe journey towards that destination.
Generous at the peak, you are a factor of harmony in your environment, taking the gift you are capable of. Of course, if you choose to swim against the current given by this vibration, you can always put yourself in the centre and refuse the mission you have. In this case, you can acquire a form of selfishness that leaves you indifferent to the needs of others. Thus, from involvement to indifference is only a step, which you often take.

Your individualism always comes to the surface anyway. You prefer to work alone or get involved in activities where you can detach from others and assert yourself as a unique individual. You are concerned about high ideas and you are prone to meditation. Although sociable and jumpy, you do not reject isolation and loneliness. Withdrawal places can stimulate your creativity and allow you to manifest yourself freely. Otherwise, you have the tendency to create your own world in which you let yourself be taken by the wave of inspiration. The right partner for you is the person who knows how to respect your need for loneliness and individualism.
You like to defy boundaries and cross borders, even on your own. Distance travel is beneficial for you, because it reveals to you new people and picturesque places. If you are not physically travelling, seek compensation through reading, movies, or other artistic forms. You like the hardcore sensation adventure element and you are attracted to mysteries. You are a very original person, a mixture of naivety and scepticism. You have to learn to adapt to the immediate reality, because otherwise you risk becoming self-centred and becoming a revolting factor that wants to reverse the order known and accepted by everyone.

Active number 11

Your first name embodies the higher level of vibration 2. The energy of 2 is thus converted, and the qualities and defects are amplified. You have to figure out if you are reasoning with the valences of 2 or with the ones of 11. The alternative is possible. Even the most peaceful 2 can sometimes become volcanic 11.

First, you are a huge force. You can be kind and patient out of the ordinary. But, of course, you have a limit. If you explode, it would be good to have no one in your way. You can be absolutely devastating. You turn into a hurricane that destroys everything in its path and restores order, setting the others on track.
Often you put others in difficulty. For example, you can overwhelm them with your energy, which seems inexhaustible. You are brave and you can overcome any attempt. For you, unpleasant experiences become life lessons after which you become wiser and more prepared to move on. You have an iron will and, although you show the specific malleability of vibration 2, there are situations in which your decision is unwavering.
You are an idealist who wants for himself and others a better world, full of harmony and understanding. Both in your private life and in your profession, you set yourself an ideal that you pursue throughout your life. To succeed, you put into practice all the conviction and energy that characterises you. Your intuition is also very useful and you should let it guide you to a creative field. In family life, you follow the balance between the emotional plan and the material well-being. Sometimes you are willing to give up some pleasures or concerns in favour of family interests, you can choose debt instead of individualism. But you will never give up designing a Utopian world, because you need an ideal like the air you breathe.

Active number 22

Your first name is the higher vibration of 4. To better shape your temperament and character, you must gaze on this master number whose energy you can embrace, sometimes or most of the time.
The practical spirit combines very well with idealism. If you put something in your mind, you have no peace until you reach the end goal. If you reason better with 22 than with 4, you tend to invest your energy and efforts especially in work. Thus, professional affirmation can take the forefront of your aspirations.
Because we talked about work, it is best to take place in an area where you have influence over others. You have the talent to bring out the best in the others and you can help them to see qualities they didn’t even think they possessed …
Your aspirations are very high and, despite your idealism, your fundamental concern is pragmatism. You are very good at bringing the world of ideas into the material plane.

10 things that kill women energy

The re-invention of yourself is an ongoing quest that is emotional, physical and spiritual. For us, women, to tap into our feminine energy is vital and it is about being committed to ourselves, first and foremost, and this means being committed to our own spiritual and personal growth, living with intention and passion while striving to contribute to our immediate world and the world at large in a positive and meaningful way.

Your life and my life is our vision quest, and so it’s up to each of us to design it, it’s about how we conduct and carry ourselves onto the path we have selected and most of all, how we follow through. To tap more into our feminine energy we also need to know the things that actually kill our femininity.

Here are 10 things that kill women feminine power and energy.

  1. A woman should only communicate with people that love her and that she loves back. She should not allow for herself any areas of conflict in any way. A woman should not communicate with those that she does not like, those people that we all have in our lives that are simply disagreeable. One of the worst mistakes a woman can do is to do something that she does not like or enjoy doing because this consumes a great amount of feminine energy which kills her spirit. This does not mean that you should not communicate at all as obviously this is quite impossible in today’s society. This refers to the fact that women should be very brief when discussing with someone unpleasant to them. When we try to make ourselves pleasant to other people we might dislike or find that we need to dissimulate we do not like them, we waste our feminine energy.
  2. Lack of personal care and physical exercise to take care of our bodies. A woman that does not take care of herself cannot take care of anyone. It’s cheap to look decent and groomed and neat, tidy. A man will always admire a women that is elegant, that is well groomed, a woman that loves herself and that has respect for herself. When a woman fails to take care of herself, she won’t feel good with her own self, and her energy drops and she starts emanating negativity or she is rejected by other people. A woman has to shine and she must not blur herself by self damaging her own feminine power by not caring for herself.
  3. Lack of emotions. Emotions belong to those that have a soul and feel all emotions. We all have emotions because we have a soul. Emotions cannot all the time be just positive. But you also have to be careful about who you let to see your painful spot as you might be vulnerable and they might hit you right there. Live your emotions. Women cry at movies, women laugh and express themselves and they must do this, and live fully, be cheerful, be positive, be alive and enjoy moments as this is something that makes a woman live in her energy, in her feminine power. Femininity is all about expressing yourself with no fear.
  4. Women must have hobbies. Women must be creative, they need to create beauty, energy around them. Even if she is only cleaning the house or doing a hobby she is owning her creativity. She is doing that hobby to recharge herself. Expressing her creativity is filling up her energy with more feminine and positive energy. Lack of hobbies is a thing that can diminish and eventually kill a woman’s energy. If a woman does not create something, even as small as it may be, then her energy stagnates. Anything that a woman does with her own hands is called and it is tapping into her creativity. When she is creating something beautiful, whether that’s doing the dishes, planting a flower, anything at all feminine wise, when she does anything that is beautiful after she puts her effort into it, she becomes beautiful.
  5. The need to dominate and to rule is killing women’s feminine energy. When the woman has a responsible man aside her, she knows she can rely on him and she won’t have this urge to rule or do it herself. No matter how you think about it, there are things that are exclusive to men and things that are exclusive to women.
  6. Women should not become slaves for their men. They need to respect themselves and yes, the woman maintains the relationship, the woman takes care of the home, the woman caters more for him, however, the man is the one that should bring in money and he should cater for her in other ways. But if she fails in this, if she is too picky with him, if she keeps on taking care of him as if he is incapable of doing so, treating him as a boy instead of a man, taking the role of the mother way too often, she will kill her energy, her femininity. No real man wishes to have beside him a slave that does it all. That’s why men rule and women obey. It’s more to talk here, but there is also the common sense and good manners code.
  7. Women must be unique. Women should not compare themselves with other women as they kill their own energy by doing so. A woman should never see in another woman a rival, a potential threat to her home and that can only occur and be felt if the woman is fully accepting herself and embraces her own feminine power and her own unique feminine goddess energy. The reason this does not happen is because women, instead of being together, they hate each other, they want to be someone else, as they fear or they lack the knowledge to discover their own uniqueness. When women compare themselves with other women they consume a lot of energy.
  8. A woman should not have the desire to fight for something to prove she is better, she is more beautiful and she is more intelligent. A woman does not need to prove this, and a woman should not feel she is competing with any other woman, as this activity only drains life out of a woman and our of her unique feminine energy.
  9. A woman must communicate with other women. This is a powerful source of energy for a woman. Obviously, this is with who she likes to be around. A woman should have some very closed friends with whom she speaks as she takes a lot of energy by speaking with other females. Women can only gain this energy by being around and communicating to other women.

10. Lack of personal space and time. A woman must have time for herself, for her own businesses and dealings in life. Always make sure you do something for YOURSELF and not for others or for something or to someone to prove to, as mentioned a woman should not compete with other women and should not feel the need to compete because she is unique, different and perfect as she is, simply because she is taking care of herself and she is already doing everything that she enjoys, she is creative, she makes time for herself and for her hobbies and she is doing only what she likes.

Remember: The 2 most important days in your life are the one you are born and the day you find out why.

A million likes won’t make you like yourself. A flower does not cry when you do not notice it. Its worth was never dependant on your attention. It is beautiful whether you see it or not. You are that FLOWER. We, women are flowers. Pour all your love into you. Fall in love with yourself, again and again.

As you take care of your energy, your energy will take care of yourself.

Sometimes, what is meant for you, can’t find you because you are simply not being yourself. That’s why it’s important to tap into your own creative feminine divine power. “Be the moon and inspire people, even when you’re far from full”, I read the other day.

Remember you are the source of your own power.

Emotional and mental causes of diseases

I have first heard about the connection between physical disease and emotions back in 2008 when I was still a student of Psychology. During that year, I became very passionate about Positive Psychology (soon I will be writing about it too) and a new interest or therapy, an alternative healing method named the Bach Flower Therapy, created by Edward Bach who was a doctor and a homeopath. The Bach Flower therapy relies on the fact that healing our emotions is relevant for overcoming our diseases.

If you need a brief overview regarding the Bach flower Therapies, have a read here, I just noticed, I posted this exactly 4 years ago 🙂

The Bach flower Therapies seem to add up to the writings of Louise Hay. A bestselling author and a teacher by profession, Hay’s ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ have done a beautiful job at building connection between the physical diseases and the mental diseases. If in Bach flower therapy, flowers have the potential to heal our emotional challenges, in emotional causes of diseases and positive affirmations of Louise Hay, to heal these emotional challenges, we have the ability to heal ourselves. In her work, the premise is that our thoughts create what happens in our life, including our health issues. Her suggested remedy is to say affirmations to change our thought patterns, and therefore change the problems in our life. Bach flower therapy relies on including specific flower extracts to heal certain emotions that are connected to physical diseases. I think both these approaches can offer a wider perspective over healing and over mental and emotional states of mind. It can aid our understanding of ourselves which in turn helps a lot the understanding of disease, therefore clarifying our emotions and our thinking patterns, we can change our lives. It’s our underlying emotions that create our physical problems, as well as what happens in our life. It’s also our emotions that create the thoughts that we have. And it’s our resistance to feeling those emotions that causes the physical ailment to manifest.

If you are new to this idea of healing yourself with understanding your emotions and mental patterns and their impact on your physical symptoms, then I recommend you start your introductory reading with these 2 blog posts I designed especially for you to be able to be open to this healing alternative option.

Blog One and Blog Two Introductory Links.

I hope that this list of emotional sources of disease helps you. Low-frequency emotions are the primary way that we weaken our energetic field, lowering our immune system such that disease states may develop.  If you look within, you will discover that your inner voice and feelings hold some of the answers to healing the physical body. Better understanding our emotions and knowing how to express them safely helps you to align with healthier outcomes.  This list is based on the work of Louise Hay and featured in her book, Heal Your Body.

Blogmas 12 – What I learned today

I was thinking recently about the content that I consume online. I was reflecting upon the teachings I obtain out of that. And it turns out, the majority is something similar to fast food – it tastes good, but it depletes you of energy and it’s not teaching me much.

So, I decided to stop consuming specific trendy or popular Instagram peoples that were not filling up my learning cup. Rather, it was taking me, my time, which I can use to better myself and to actually gain something out of that content consumption. So, here we are. I realised, much as I realised a couple of years back, when I was left stranded with no internet in the middle of the December holidays – Lessons of digital Detox link, that a lot of what I watch or see or read online is superficial. Super superficial. And in 2020, I want to make sure I consume content that makes me better or strive to be better, that teaches me something, that is helpful and useful, much as the content I want to produce and the mission this blog has, and not just content that is enjoyable, beautiful and catchy. Because, we all know, we are all, more than just, clothes, beauty and the so called “lifestyle” which concept, recently has lost its core. It is becoming increasingly connected to a certain luxury living and spa style life. Lifestyle is not what it used to be associated with, and the culprits are Instagram people and Youtubers that have transformed the meaning, because of what they promote or show through their videos and because of the perception we obtain based on that “show”. Unfortunately, we are all, also behind this lessening of the power of the word, because we are strongly condemning the concept in favour of other notions we are more close to, such as minimalism, and the reason behind that, in my humble opinion, is the fact that most of us relate to the normality of minimalism, daily struggle and frugal living, rather than a lavish lifestyle that we see portrayed everywhere around us, and of course, we desire it, it’s normal. But it’s not normal to stop relating to what truly deeply lifestyle is all about. It’s not just about food or healthy food or about exercising or about yoga and fitness, that we mostly define it by with, more and more, it’s about having a life that we enjoy, a life that we want, a life that keeps us going, that is sustainable to maintain and that keeps other people want to join in not because it’s “fashionable”, but because it is truly connecting us, as humans, it’s creating a community of like-minded people. But, it’s not this, which I have learned today.

Today I have learned that I get consumed by the content that I consume. And that happens because it’s easy to get in the “desire mood” of stuff we see online and we get fickle about things afterwards. I wrote about consumerism many years ago in this blog post named “A minimalist journey” and I realised that, once again, if you stay too much in the realm of people that are like that, you end up believing that’s what you need too. It’s the same as the saying “you are the quintessence of the top 5 people you most surround yourself with“. It goes the same for social media. Who do you constantly follow and how does that person influence you? The influence is subtle, is invisible, it’s clever. You may not realise but the coat you bought could have been triggered by a coat you saw at one of your favourite social media persons, and it does not need to be recent, it could have been seen 6 months ago. It’s still in your subconscious mind. Remember the trick with the subconscious mind and working pattern? It’s in this blog post.

I have learned today that there are people that lie and create a life based on that lie and they are able to live comfortably for a very long time. It’s hard to spot a faker because he has been faking it all his life. A faker is an expert in lie. He’s lied ever since he was younger. How can that person not be a professional in keeping up a mask that hides the fact they are not who they show the world they are, they do not have the knowledge or expertise of what they portray to have, and they are not the humans they say they are. It’s hard to see the missing pieces, because their flaws are hidden in plain sight. Sometimes so well, that you mistake the flaw with a quality. And the problem is this people are making YOU believe you have a problem, when in reality, it’s the other way around. Be careful, who you surround yourself with. You need an observatory spirit and you need lots of NUNCHI.

That’s the second thing I learned today. NUNCHI.

Nunchi is the Korean secret to happiness and success. The core of this view to life is reflected in a motto belonging to Arthur Conan Doyle and it goes like this “the world is full of obvious things that no one notices ever.”

Why people fail to observe these obvious things? Because people are more concerned with the rationals they hold in their heads and their cognitive distortions – see info on that here – link – and in this smartphone age we cannot notice it anymore because we have no time. Nunchi is something like a signal for intuition. Intuition is something we feel based on a variety of factors and brain shortcuts we have accumulated in time and that serve us as a life situations guide, more like a “how to” way of acting and behaving. Nunchi is from what I understood, a way of reflecting this side of the intuition in a mindful manner. If intuition happens more like a spark, something we feel all of a sudden and we interpret it as something we must or must not do (based on those factors appreciated briefly above), nunchi happens mindfully because we decide to pay attention, closely to things around us. If intuition is more like interpretation based on similar stuff that happened in the past (which is recorded somewhere in our memory and our survival brain is sending subtle signals to help us), nunchi is bringing this unconscious ability into the conscious realm.

When we experience intuition, is usually connected to a random situation in space and time, to subtle behaviours and words and non-verbal communication, to impulsiveness, in a way. When we want to feel nunchi and approach this on a day by day basis, we collide the intuition into constant present time, we force it to happen all the time, because we DECIDE consciously to be intuitive, to be observant, to notice, to care, to open our eyes and clearly see. I feel, nunchi is something we mindfully decide on experiencing.

It’s like the mindful version of intuition.

The third thing I learned today is in connection to nunchi and introversion. When I first read the book “The power of introverts” by Susan Cain, I felt that finally, here is something I can relate to totally. Well, in my opinion, nunchi is a form of power that mostly, introverts have acquired in their lifetime, due to their ability to be more patient with themselves, to be observant, to notice things that would normally be unseen by other people. An introvert is in a native manner more inclined to connect to his or her inner compass and that inner compass is this way of living, named by the Koreans “NUNCHI”. Nunchi is about understanding when to shut up, when to not disclose YOUR views, YOUR experiences, YOUR everything and why it is important to listen to the person that is giving you all these information. Observe what information you are being given. When you observe that, you will notice that you will be more careful with what you disclose, because you know what people can guess about you based on your disclosing thoughts. Nunchi is about being more present in the day to day life, about being mindful regarding our life experiences, about accepting the day to day “moods” and capturing in our inner compass all those subtle movements, words, gestures and sayings, maybe colours, situations, surroundings and details to better serve us for the future and to help us understand ourselves better.

When we pay attention, we select information. When we pay attention we are interested and when we are truly curious and interested, we remember better. Nunchi is about remembering all that and applying it every single second. It’s truly mindfulness overload. It’s living in the present moment. It’s more like Eckhart Tolle’s “the power of now”. Nunchi is the power of now.

Forth thing learned today is WORD OF 2019. Did you know that starting 2004, Oxford Dictionaries is designating one word per YEAR as the WORD OF THE YEAR? If in other years, words such as “selfie”, “vape” or “unfriend” have been on top, this year the first place was occupied by “climate emergency”. The oxford word of the Year is a word or expression shown through usage evidence to reflect the ethos, mood or preoccupations of the passing year, and have lasting potential as a term of cultural significance. So 2019 is marked by climate emergency. Read more about the reasons behind this decision here, although I am sure you can relate to the reason this has been selected, as we all have been impacted this year by the impact of the climate itself and can easily relate to its significance.

The main thing to culminate my learning for today is this quote I found on my curated social media following list:
